Terrace,Mumbai |
Project Area : 4000 sq ft

This airy Mumbai terrace site provided the excitement of designing for different levels that overlook each other. The design exploits the breath-taking views out to the seaside, lined with towering coconut palms.

Decks and Decor

Brass is used across levels as a motif, complementing the ochre hue of the built form.
A backlit handcrafted brass panel forms the key accent of the upper terrace while a brass-clad waterfall serves as a focal point in the lower terrace. A wooden swing provides an idyllic spot to read in solitude with the cathartic sound of the waterfall in the background.

The decks, with their playful level changes are lined with concealed fixtures that elegantly light them up by night. An eclectic mix of earthy pots can be found littered across the site as decorative elements.

Seating Typologies

It was crucial to design keeping the client’s lifestyle in mind, and ensure that the space had a plethora of seating typologies that could adapt to varied social situations. This included a pergola-sheltered island hosting a sofa set, a bar counter, an al fresco dining table for intimate family dinners, and a coffee table to watch the sunset from.

Planting Palette

The carefully curated planting palette includes a rich mix of tropical plants – ferns, philodendrons, and dainty white spider lilies. Patches of lawn are interspersed through the vast expanses of sprawling wooden decking. Wall climbers creep up the building façade, forming a symbiotic relationship with the architecture.
